The International Engineering Water Centre (IWEC) has a long involvement in overseas water resources development. Personnel in the Centre have been active in training workshops located overseas and in Canada, international consulting activities, and training of nationals from developing countries and in research specifically related to the problems of technology transfer and management in developing countries.  IWEC stresses the uses of appropriate technology to achieve sustainable development. IWEC personnel have been involved in the assessment of projects, development of training programs and research projects in Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.  They have been involved in the preparation of training manuals for the World Bank.
