BIOGRAPHY

After his B.Sc., Dr. Droste worked for one year with United Engineers and Construction Co. and 5 months with Frontier College in northern Sasketchewan before returning to graduate studies. He received the Keefer Award from the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering for the best paper on a civil engineering topic for his Master's work on urban stormwater pollution. Upon completion of his doctorate in environmental engineering he joined the University of Ottawa in 1978. He took a one year leave of absence in 1990 to work as a senior technical advisor in the consulting firm of Gore & Storrie, Ltd. in their environmental water resources division. His primary work is in processes for water and wastewater treatment and on water quality transformations in the environment. He has worked with many Canadian and U.S. consulting firms and also consulted with The World Bank, IDRC, and CIDA at the international level.

R. Droste was a contributor to development of Plan-It STOAT, released in March, 2000. This software tool for design of wastewater treatment facilities is available from the Water Research Centre (WRc), UK.  It was developed by Camp, Dresser, McKee (CDM) and WRc engineers.
