BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Robitaille joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2004 following a 7-year stay at the University of Nottingham, Britain, where he worked as a Senior Research Fellow in polymer composite materials and technical textiles and as a Lecturer in Engineering Design. He worked on a number of industrial applications with diverse sponsors including Ford UK and Rolls-Royce, and conducted numerous simulations of the manufacturing of composite parts for road vehicles including applications to Aston-Martin Vanquish, a composite lorry trailer, and others.

His current research interests include the advanced modelling of the physical processes involved in the manufacturing of composite materials, mainly the mechanics and drape of dry fibrous assemblies, their permeability to diverse fluids and their heat transfer characteristics. The models are also applied to the engineering of advanced technical textiles used in infrastructure, architecture, etc.

Please see my personal research page for a fuller description of my work and interests, and complete biographic information.
