Dr. Kennedy spent 1.5 years as process engineer with CIL working on the Deep Shaft Wastewater Treatment Process before joining the National Research Council of Canada. For the next 11 years he worked on the development of biological treatment processes for industrial wastewater. He joined the Department of Civil Engineering at University of Ottawa in 1992 and holds a cross appointment in Chemical Engineering. He has carried out collaborative research and consulting with numerous companies and governmental organizations. Dr Kennedy and his students have received several research awards. He is presently secretary for the IAWQ Specialist Group on Anaerobic Digestion.
