Facilities

A partial listing of facilities includes:

       A wind turbine drivetrain diagnostics test rig.

       A rotor dynamics and turbine blade crack diagnostics test rig.

        A machinery and structure health monitoring and diagnosis test bed consisting of a SQ Machinery Fault Simulator, a SQI Gearbox Dynamics Simulator and various bearing, gear, shaft, belt, motor and reciprocating machinery test kits.

        An oil debris monitoring rig with multi-axial vibration excitation capability for gearbox and engine fault detection and diagnosis. 

        An intelligent manufacturing control and optimization test bed consisting of a SERVO CNC milling machine and a sensing/DSP module.

        A sensing and data acquisition system containing Magtrol HD-810-6N Hysteresis Dynamometer, Kistler 9257B and 9067 dynamometers, Kistler 5814A10 Multi-Channel Dual Mode charge amplifier, Load Controls power cell sensors, Wilcoxon and Montronix accelerometers, ICP single- and tri-axial accelerometers, Load Controls Universal power sensors, NI DAQ units, Kistler 9722A2000 Piezotron impulse force hammer, Shure acoustic sensors, and WD acoustic emission sensors.

        A cluster of computers equipped with various DAQ, DSP, control, simulation, and optimization software.

  1. Motor Load sensor

A motor load sensor monitors horsepower of an electrical motor used for spindle control in Servo CNC.

Specifications

                                i)      Frequency: 3 Hz to 1 kHz

                              ii)      Accuracy: 0.5% Full Scale

                            iii)      Response (Adjustable): 0.5 seconds to 3 seconds

                            iv)      Analog output:

4 20 Milliamp 500 Ohm Maximum connected impedance.

0 10 Volt DC 2,000 Ohm Minimum Load.

 

It can be used for the following,

                                i)      Adjusting machines and processes

         Keep feed rates at optimum,

         Adjust feed rates as sizes or materials change

         Regulate pressure, force, flow or viscosity, and

         Compensate for tool wear.

                              ii)      Signalling beginning or end of process

         Tool has touched workpiece, and

         Viscosity has reached desired level.

                            iii)      Detecting trouble

         Early warning of machine jam-up,

         A part is misplaced, and

         Tool is missed.

                            iv)      protecting machine and tools

         Sensing overload,

         Sensing loss of load, and

         Detecting dull tools.

    MAGTROL's HD dynamometer is used for testing in low to medium power ranges, which has following features:
