This one-day workshop will be hosted at the University of Toronto by the Ottawa Carleton Earthquake Engineering Research Centre. It is cosponsored by the Canadian Association for Earthquake Engineering, the University of Toronto, the National Research Council of Canada, and Public Works and Government Services Canada.  Members of the Canadian National Committee on Earthquake Engineering will lead discussions on the upcoming changes to the seismic design provisions of the NBCC 2005.  We invite members of the engineering community who expect to participate in the workshop to present comments for discussion, on aspects of the proposed seismic provisions or their implementation (including appropriate engineering tools);  please email us with a brief description (a few sentences) of the comment that you would like to present, to oceerc@aol.com.  We have scheduled time in the agenda for the presentation and discussion of these comments, as well as time for an Open Forum that may include any informal comments arising from the workshop.  Note that the draft code provisions are available for download from www.nationalcodes.ca.  The cost of the workshop is $120/person, with a special discounted rate of $30 for students, which includes coffee breaks and workshop notes.  Registration deadline is April 30, 2004.  Please register early as space is limited.
