BIOGRAPHY                                                                                                                                                      


Dr. Nistor is a hydrotechnical engineer with both academic and consulting experience. He has more than 18 years of experience, covering both teaching and research, in several countries in Europe, Japan and North America.

 

He is currently an Assistant Professor of Hydraulic and Coastal Engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering and Associate Vice-Dean (Research) for the Faculty of Engineering. He is also the Chair of the Hydrotechnical Division of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) and a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Coastal Science and Engineering Association.

 

Dr. Nistor started his academic career in the Faculty of Hydrotechnical Engineering of the Technical University of Iasi, Romania. Following his doctoral studies in Yokohama National University, Japan, in the field of surf-zone hydrodynamics and sediment transport in coastal areas, he was awarded several postdoctoral fellowships (DAAD-Germany, NATO-Greece, AUF-Canada) and participated in several academic research programs (TEMPUS and SOCRATES) at universities in Europe (Italy, France, UK) and Canada in hydraulic and coastal engineering.

 

Dr. Nistor also spent several years as a design and consulting engineer with TECSULT-AECOM Montreal, working on various international and Canadian projects related to dam engineering, coastal engineering, environmental engineering, as well as sanitation and water resources development.
