Dr.
Marc A. Dubé, P.Eng., FCIC
Professor, Chemical and Biological Engineering
(2007-present)
CHAIR, Dept. of Chemical
and Biological Engineering (2006-2011)
Associate Professor,
Chemical Engineering (2002-2007)
Assistant Professor,
Chemical Engineering (1996-2002)
Ph.D.: University of Waterloo
(1995)
M.A.Sc.: University of Waterloo
(1989)
B.Sc. (Chem. Eng.): Queen's University (1987)
Professor Dubé‚ was born in
Welland,
Ontario, Canada,
in 1964 and he received his B.Sc. degree from the Department of Chemical
Engineering at Queen's University in 1987. He then obtained his M.A.Sc. degree from the Department
of Chemical Engineering at the University
of Waterloo in 1989. He
was supervised by Professors Alexander Penlidis and Kenneth F. O'Driscoll and
studied the copolymerization kinetics and mathematical modelling.
He subsequently worked for Polysar on a research
project concerning ionic polymerizations for a short period. In 1990, he worked
on contract for the Uniroyal Chemical Co. U.S.A. modelling
emulsion copolymerization. In late 1990, he resumed his studies at the University of Waterloo and obtained his Ph.D. in
Chemical Engineering in early 1995. He worked under the supervision of
Professor Alexander Penlidis and studied multicomponent polymerization kinetics
and modelling. Following this, Dr. Dubé worked on a
research contract for ICI Worldwide studying high temperature polymerizations.
He joined the University
of Ottawa as an Assistant
Professor in 1996.
In 2006, Dr. Dubé was
appointed Chair of the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering; his
mandate ended in 2011.
Dr. Dubé is a registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, is a member of the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering (Chemical
Institute of Canada, CIC), and in 2011 was named a Fellow of the CIC. In 2012, he was named a Fellow
of the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC). He is
active in the field of polymer reaction engineering.
