Canadian Undergrad Technology Conference (CUTC)
This year we had two representatives go to CUTC to mingle with some of the top companies in the tech industry including Google, Intel, General Dynamics, AMD/ATI, Nortel and Microsoft (just to name a couple). The conference focuses mainly on students in the SITE department but was a really good experience to see where the future of technology. This conference was a real show case to see how the tech industry has recovered from the bubble burst in the 90s. During the conference two delegates from the U of O grouped up with a couple really awesome guys from Concordia Matt Nudo and Alex Ionescu, and also Anne Cho from Waterloo. Together they took on an AMD/ATI case challenge with a level of dedication and professionalism still yet to be challenged by any other University in Canada. At the end of the conference during the end of conference ball with 700 people present 3 reps from AMD/ATI announced that the U of O / Concordia / Waterloo Dream team had blown the competition away in a landslide victory. The conference was a smashing success to all who came out. University of Ottawa definitely made our presence felt at the conference, and made some good friends with the boys down at Concordia.
